Ukraine invasion: How it could affect your cyber security and what to do
We’re all watching in horror at the events in the Ukraine right now.
I’m sure we are all thinking how this will affect the world in many different ways. Have you also considered the potential impact it could have on your business?
The main focus needs to be your cyber security.
We are not currently aware of any direct threat to the UK. But last week the National Cyber Security Centre issued advice to all businesses to strengthen their defences.
Russia has a long and chequered past when it comes to cyber-attacks. They are known for some of the most prevalent ransomware attacks over the past few years. Given the increased action being taken by the global community against Russia it is possible they may hit back.
Official NCSC advice is for all businesses (big and small) to make sure the Cyber Essentials framework is in place. This keeps devices, networks and systems safe and secure.
If you do not have Cyber Essentials, there are still things you can do to keep your business safe.
Checking your backups are working is an absolute essential practice to follow. Also check that all applications are updated and patched, and your team is following good security practice and guidelines.
