We all hope that the worst-case scenario won’t happen to our business, but what if it did?
Business continuity plans help you to identify what action you would need to take if a certain chain of events happened. If you have a business continuity plan in place already, when was the last time you reviewed it? Does it contain your IT and connectivity systems?
If you don’t have one in place, then we really do suggest that you get one in place as soon as you can. Having a continuity plan in place, reviewed yearly, and open to all staff will make dealing with a worst-case scenario so much less stress full.
A good example would be if you had your files hosted in Office 365 and your telephone system running through Voice over IP (VOIP). You come into the office on Monday morning to find you have no internet connectivity. That means you can’t access your files or make/receive any calls. What would you do?
Thanks to COVID most businesses are setup for a hybrid working environment, so you could text your staff and tell them to work from home until the line comes back up. But what if you don’t have that option? By having the continuity plan in place, you will have already thought about this scenario and have solutions in place.
