The Ticking Time Bomb that will affect 1 in 3 businesses…
In January and October 2020, some of the most used software in the world will stop being supported by Microsoft. I am sure you are wondering by now how this may affect you, and why you should be concerned. Let me explain…..
Windows 7 and Office 2010 are very popular pieces of software and hold a high market share around the world. Add to the mix Microsoft Server 2008, Small Business Server 2011 and Exchange 2010 and you have a recipe for potential disaster
It’s worth pointing out at this stage that in January 2020 any machines running the software mentioned won’t suddenly stop working, it’s just that they will no longer receive critical security and stability updates from Microsoft. Over time any security vulnerabilities found within the software will not be patched by Microsoft and could therefore be exploited by hackers and viruses.
Remember the Wanna Cry infection that spread around the world last year? That was all due to companies and institutions still running Windows XP, which is also no longer supported by Microsoft…….

So how do you know if you have any of the software mentioned above installed?
Take a look below at the icons, if any of them are familiar to you then you will need to take action.
If this looks familiar take a look at the bottom left of your screen now, if you see the same image you are running Windows 7.
If you see this interface when logging in to check your emails then you are using Exchange 2010.
If you see this gold coloured logo on your desktop, or in your start menu then you will need to take action. Office 2010 includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and Publisher
Small Business Server is used within many businesses as it controls your network, but can also host your website and email. Be aware if you’ve ever seen this screen.
